Art Thrapist

With 19 years of experience, Abby Shahar is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Board-Certified Art Therapist who believes that creativity has the power to heal, connect, and transform. She offers a warm, personalized therapeutic experience that blends traditional psychotherapy with the creative process.

She provides a supportive space where clients can slow down, reflect, and explore life’s challenges through both conversation and creative expression. Art therapy offers a unique way to access emotions, gain insight, and foster growth, and no artistic experience or talent is required. Whether through art-making, mindfulness practices, or traditional talk therapy, each session is tailored to meet the individual needs and goals of her clients.

She works with adolescents, adults, and older adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress, grief, relationship challenges, and personal growth. Her client-centered, compassionate, and collaborative approach helps clients cultivate greater self-awareness, resilience, and confidence.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Visual Arts from Boston University and her Master’s degree in Art Therapy from The George Washington University. She is passionate about creating a therapeutic environment that feels welcoming, creative, and deeply attuned to each person’s unique story.
